A Solid, Level Foundation
Before any of the fancy features, designs or colors go up on our sheds, we first make sure we’re building on a solid foundation. With that in mind, we use thicker, stronger materials for our shed floor framing.
No Wood on the Ground
Instead of building our foundations with lumber that is in or on the ground (a common practice), we design our foundations so that none of its lumber is in contact with the ground.
This ensures that the airflow beneath your shed will quickly dry the lumber after the morning dew or a heavy rain. Clean, dry lumber lasts longer, which adds to the longevity of your shed.
A Thicker, Stronger Floor
We build our shed floors with pressure-treated lumber that is 3/4″ thick rather than the 1/2″ material that is common on other sheds. This ensures your floor won’t crack or dip over time under the weight.
Also, the joists that support this floor are only 16 inches apart, which provides greater strength and rigidity.
Level, Square & Precise
You can count on your shed floor being perfectly level. We use time-tested practices to raise up each wall to be at 90 degrees to the other walls and the floor. It’s going to look right and feel right because it’s built right.
16 inches on-center
Our standard practice is to space our floor joists 16 inches apart (on-center). This provides a strong and sturdy floor that can support heavy loads without sagging or bending.
It also ensures an even distribution of weight across the floor, preventing weak spots and extending the lifespan of the shed.
TuffBlock Footings
We support most of our shed floors with TuffBlock footings. They’re specifically designed to support excessive weight and to allow the lumber they carry to dry. They’re lightweight yet durable, ensuring a stable and long-lasting foundation for your shed.
Durable Shed Floor Framing
Durable shed floor framing is crucial for ensuring the structural integrity and longevity of your shed. It provides a stable foundation that can withstand heavy loads and resist damage from moisture and pests. A strong floor framing also enhances the safety and usability of the shed, making it a safe and reliable space.
